Separate harness configs with direnv

31.08.2026

Direnv is pretty neat to use different agent subscription for different projects. Add a .envrc to a directory and all sub-directories of that directory will load.

This snippet is what I use in .envrc in the directory were I clone all the work projects. It enables Claude Code, Codex and Pi to have a separate work config.

export CODEX_HOME="$HOME/.codex-work"
export PI_CODING_AGENT_DIR="$HOME/.pi-work/agent"
export CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR="$HOME/.claude-work"
